It was Saturday. Wacky Wayne's Used Cars was having a huge sale. Customers walked around the car lot.
Wacky Wayne tried to sell a van to a woman.
"I don't like it." The woman pointed to a red sports car. "How about that one?"
Wayne frowned. "That's my own car. But here's another one you might like." He led her over to a green car. The door had a huge dent.
Wayne jumped in front of the dent. "Take it for a test drive. I'm sure you'll—"
Whoosh! The green car rose from the ground.
"Wow!" a boy yelled. "It's a flying car! Can we get it, Dad?"
A few more cars rose. People watched as they floated off the lot.
"What's going on?" Wayne cried. "Those cars are leaving my lot!"
The cars lined themselves up on the street. Then they rolled onto a car carrier.
Bar-room! The car carrier's engine turned on. It drove down the street.
A teenager sat in the driver's seat. She glanced in the rearview mirror at the stolen cars and laughed.
"See you soon, Rocket Girl!"
Roxy, Jack, and Terrell were sitting in Mara's backyard. Mara appeared from behind a bedsheet curtain. She was dressed as a magician. Her friends clapped and cheered.
Mara took a bow. "Thank you. My first trick is called the dancing coin." She pulled a penny from her pocket. "Jack, please examine the coin."
Jack looked the penny over carefully. "It looks like a regular penny to me."
"Good. Now I, Mara the Magnificent, will make this ordinary penny dance."
She waved her hand. The coin spun!
"Whoa!" Jack said. "How do you do that?"
"Magic, of course," Mara said.
"I know the secret," Terrell said. "You have a magnet in your glove, right?"
Mara smiled. "Mara the Magnificent never reveals her secrets."
Just then Roxy's watch beeped.
"Um, I'll go get us some more juice," Roxy said.
Roxy hurried into Mara's kitchen.
"What's up, Mayor?" Roxy said.
"A bunch of cars are up," Mayor Bloom said.
"What do you mean?" Roxy asked.
Mayor Bloom shook his head. "This sounds strange, but cars floated off Wacky Wayne's lot. Whoever did this made the cars fly—without even touching them. I think there's a car thief in Metro City."
"That does sound strange," Roxy said. "But don't worry, Mayor Bloom. I'll find out what's going on!"
