Roxy slid deeper inside the plant.
"Ugh!" Roxy cried. "It's so hot and sticky in here!"
Finally she stopped moving. "I must be in a pod now," Roxy said. She tried to move her arms and legs. But there was no room.
"I better . . . get out. I'm . . . getting . . ." She let out a big yawn. "Sleepy."
Roxy shook her head. "Don't fall asleep!" She told herself. She tried firing her eye laser beams. But there wasn't enough room in the pod.
"Maybe my heat vision will work," Roxy thought.
The heat vision didn't harm the plant. The inside of the pod only grew hotter.
Roxy tried her freeze breath next. She heard a crackling sound. The inside of the pod became gray.
"Yes!" Roxy cried. "My freeze breath is killing the plant!" She blew harder. The pod withered and died.
Roxy punched a hole through the pod. "I'm free!"
The plant had many other pods. Roxy saw the pods wiggling. People were in them. She blew her freeze breath all over the plant. Soon the giant plant fell over dead. People climbed out of the pods.
"Thank you, Rocket Girl!" a man said.
"No problem!" Roxy said. Then she saw Vic Nebula fly off in her spaceship. Vic was zooming toward a wormhole!
"Vic is going to escape through that wormhole!" Roxy said. "I can't let her get away!" Roxy shot after the villain. Vines reached for her. Giant mouths snapped at her. Roxy zigzagged to avoid them.
Whiz-hoo! Roxy's eye laser beams hit Vic's spaceship. Smoke poured from it. The spaceship crashed near the wormhole.
Vic Nebula jumped out and ran toward the wormhole. She looked over her shoulder at Roxy. "Good-bye, Rocket Girl! I'm going back to—" A mouth snapped. Gulp!
Roxy laughed. "That was easy!" Then she looked around. "Now I just need to destroy all the other plants and free everyone."
A little later Roxy freed Detective Smith.
"Thanks, Rocket Girl," the detective said. "Being eaten by that plant was terrible!"
Roxy placed a wiggling pod in front of him. "You can put this in a jail cell." She grinned. "Vic Nebula is inside!"
Roxy returned to Jack's backyard. "Hey, guys! Can I see that strange plant now?"
Jack shook his head. "The plant is dead. But you missed everything! The plant ate us!"
Terrell nodded, smiling. "Then Rocket Girl saved us!"
Roxy shook her head. "That's ridiculous, guys."
"It's true!" Mara said.
Roxy just laughed.
