"Wow!" Roxy said. "Look at all this amazing technology!"
Roxy and her friends were at Metro City's new technology hub building. It was the grand opening. Technology companies were showing off products.
One man demonstrated a memory watch. "It's called Fit-Think. It helps you remember things."
Terrell rolled his eyes. "I don't need a watch to help me remember stuff."
"We often walk around staring at our phones," the man said. "The Fit-Think buzzes every 15 minutes. It reminds you to stop and look around to notice things."
His Fit-Think buzzed. "It's time for me to look around!" He looked around. "I see a blue floor. I see True Savings Bank through the window. I see a huge painting with lots of lines."
Roxy looked around too.
Someone laughed. "This is silly!"
"It's not silly." The man smiled. "This will help me remember everything about this place."
Mara shrugged. "Maybe he's right."
Roxy shook her head. "I don't think anyone needs a watch for that."
Jack yawned. "Let's see if anyone here has video games." He quickly spotted something. "Oh! A virtual reality company!"
"Yes!" Mara said.
She and Jack hurried away.
Terrell and Roxy saw a woman talking to a crowd. She stood in front of two big booths.
"I'm Lily Zusk," the woman said. "I own a travel company."
Someone in the crowd frowned. "Travel? I don't see any cars or airplanes here."
Lily smiled. "Who needs a car or an airplane?" She waved her hand toward the booths. "Thanks to me, people can now teleport!"
"Whoa!" Terrell said.
"How does it work?" Roxy asked.
"It's simple," Lily said. "You step into one booth. Then, zap! You come out of the other booth!" She looked around. "Who wants to try?"
A woman stepped forward. She wore a gold necklace. "Me."
She walked into one booth. Light flashed inside—and the woman disappeared! Light flashed in the other booth. Then she stepped out.
"Whoa," the woman said. "That was really weird—and really cool!"
The crowd cheered.
"I want to try it!"
"Me too!"
A man went into a booth. Then he stepped out from the other booth.
Roxy scratched her head. "That's weird. I thought he had a fancy watch."
Roxy looked at the woman again. Her gold necklace was gone.
"Hmm," Roxy thought. She looked at Lily. An evil smile spread across Lily's face. Roxy gasped. "Lily Zusk is a thief!"
