There's something yummy in the air.
It smells like someone is baking.
Oh! Minnie is baking pies for a picnic.
Polly: Do you smell that, Jack?
Jack: I do. It's making me hungry.
Polly: Let's go see what Minnie's making.
Jack: Yum, pie!
Polly: Smells good. Can we have some, Minnie?
Minnie: Not yet.
Polly: Then when?
Minnie: Later today. We're having a picnic this afternoon.
Gary: After everyone's chores are done.
Polly: I already did my chores.
Jack: Me too.
Gary: How did you finish so fast?
Polly: I brought fresh water to the coop.
And made the chicks' bed.
Jack: I weeded the carrot patch.
Gary: Those are easy chores.
They should have more chores, Minnie!
Polly: We have lots of chores!
We go and help our friend—
Minnie: Ahem!
Polly: I mean, um . . .
We have more chores. Right, Jack?
Jack: Oh yes. We should go do them now.
Right, Minnie?
Minnie: Good idea. You two go and do that.
Polly: See? We are very busy, Gary.
See you later!
