It was morning in Metro City. A man rolled out of bed. He yawned. He looked at his clock and gasped. "I slept through my alarm! I'll be late for work!"
The man quickly got ready and ran out the door. He drove through Metro City. Every traffic light he passed was green.
"Whew!" the man said. "I might not be late after all!"
Suddenly he saw cars stopped in the street. He slammed on his brakes. Dance music filled the air.
People were honking their horns and shouting.
"Get out of the way!"
"Quit blocking the road!"
"I'm trying to drive!"
The man got out of his car to see what was going on. The intersection up ahead was filled with roller skaters!
"Check this out!" Jack was standing on his chair and dancing.
Mara giggled.
"Sit down, Jack!" Terrell whispered. "You're going to get all of us in trouble."
"Yeah," Roxy said quietly. "We're trying to take a quiz."
"Jack!" Miss Apricot said. "What are you supposed to be doing right now?"
Jack looked down. "Um, taking a quiz."
"That's right," Miss Apricot said. "Please sit down."
Jack sat down and looked at his quiz. He spun his pencil around. Then he picked it up and pretended it was dancing.
"It's a pencil dance party!" Jack whispered.
Mara snorted. Then she made her pencil dance too.
"Jack! Mara!" Miss Apricot said. "Stop goofing around!"
Jack sighed. "Sorry, Miss Apricot."
"Thanks a lot, Jack," Mara whispered. "You got me in trouble."
Jack made a face at her. Mara giggled.
Jack groaned. "I wish Rocket Girl could save us from this quiz."
"Shh," Roxy said. "I'm trying to work."
Just then her watch beeped. "I'll be right back, Miss Apricot," she said. "I have to, um, get a drink of water!"
Roxy hurried out to the hallway. She opened her watch.
"Mayor Bloom," Roxy said. "Is something wrong?"
"Sort of." The mayor grinned sheepishly. "There's a roller-skating party in downtown Metro City."
Roxy scratched her head. "That doesn't seem like an emergency, Mayor."
"The party is blocking a busy intersection," Mayor Bloom said. "It's causing a huge traffic jam. The police tried all morning to make the roller skaters leave. But they won't listen! Can you please break up the party?"
"Sure, Mayor," Roxy said. "I'll go and talk to those roller skaters."
Roxy closed her watch and chuckled. "This will be the easiest mission ever!"
