The Carter Family 54: Backyard Star Party
Mom went to the library.
She brought home books about stars and planets.
"Let's have a backyard star party tonight!" Mom said.
"Yay!" The kids cheered.
"Great idea!" Dad said.
"I'll find our telescope."
He went up to the attic to look for it.
"I'll make star and moon cookies," Aunt Judy said.
Harry helped Aunt Judy mix the cookie dough.
Emmy helped Oliver read the books.
"I like the moon," Oliver said.
"I hope it's big and bright tonight."
"My favorite planet is Saturn," Emmy said.
"I hope we see its rings with the telescope."
Aunt Judy put the cookies in the oven.
Harry sat down and looked at the books.
"It's fun to find stars in the night sky," he said.
"I hope we see the Big Dipper."
That night the Carters went outside.
Dad brought the telescope.
Aunt Judy brought the cookies.
Mom brought a blanket for everyone to sit on.
"I don't see any stars!" Harry said.
"I don't see the moon!" Oliver said.
"It's too cloudy tonight to see anything," Dad said.
Everyone was disappointed.
"Well, I see some stars and moons," Emmy said.
She pointed to the cookies.
"We can still have a party tonight!"
