Rocket Girl, Rocket Girl vs. Rocket Girl 1: Mayor Bloom
Mayor Bloom sat in his office at City Hall. His phone rang.
"It's time," said a voice on the phone.
"Yes, boss," said Mayor Bloom. He hung up the phone.
The mayor went into another room and opened a safe. He pulled out a bunch of money.
"Mayor Bloom," said the mayor's assistant. "What are you doing? That's the money for the new playground in Metro City Park."
Mayor Bloom didn't say anything. He stuffed the money into a briefcase and ran.
"I hope the new playground has a really big fort," said Jack. "With bridges, ladders, slides, and tunnels!"
Roxy and her friends were at Metro City Park. They were standing in an open area filled with weeds. It was where the new playground would be soon.
"I hope the playground has a tower!" said Terrell.
"I want a swing set," said Roxy. "Swinging makes me feel like I can fly."
Terrell gave her a suspicious look.
"I hope they build the playground soon," said Mara. "I'm tired of waiting for it."
"We should get Rocket Girl to build the playground," said Terrell. "She could build it really fast."
Roxy rolled her eyes. "I think Rocket Girl has more important things to do."
Terrell sighed. "You're right," he said. Suddenly his eyes lit up. "You know what would be really cool?" he asked.
     "What?" asked Jack.
"If there were two Rocket Girls!" said Terrell. "One could fight super villains, and the other could build our playground!"
     Everyone laughed.
Roxy shook her head. "Terrell, that is the silliest thing I ever heard in my entire life."
Terrell shrugged. "I'm just saying . . . It would be cool."
Just then Roxy's wristwatch beeped quietly. Roxy walked away from her friends. She pressed a button on her watch. Detective Smith's face appeared on the screen.
"Uh-oh!" thought Roxy. "Detective Smith doesn't know who I really am!" Roxy quickly put on her mask.
"Detective Smith," she whispered. "What's going on? Where's Mayor Bloom?"
Detective Smith cleared his throat. "We have a problem, Rocket Girl. It looks like Mayor Bloom stole the money for the new playground at Metro City Park."
Roxy was shocked. "No way," she said. "Mayor Bloom would never do that."
"I know it's hard to believe," said Detective Smith. "But his assistant saw him do it. I need you to come down to City Hall right away."
Roxy gulped. "Okay, Detective. I'll be right there."
