Roxy laughed at Crime Fighter Bot. "You can't arrest me!"
"Yes, I can. You're a child. The law says that children must be in school," the robot said.
"No exceptions for superheroes?" Roxy asked.
"The law is the law!" the robot said.
Crime Fighter Bot stepped closer and raised its net cannon. But before it could shoot, Roxy heard Dr. Odd. He was yelling as he ran toward them with Bippo.
"Crime Fighter Bot, stop!" Dr. Odd said.
"Bad, you!" Bippo said.
Crime Fighter Bot dropped its cannon.
"Sorry about that, Rocket Girl," Dr. Odd said. "I have to check this robot. I think it might need a few repairs."
Roxy nodded. "It wants to arrest everyone!"
"Hmm. It could be a serious problem with its control circuit," Dr. Odd said. "I hope I don't have to retire Crime Fighter Bot."
Roxy nodded. "You might have to leave the crime fighting to me for a while."
"Power down, Crime Fighter Bot," Dr. Odd said.
The robot's lights went out.
"I'll take him apart to see what went wrong," Dr. Odd said. "That way I won't repeat the same mistake."
"Sounds good. Bye, Bippo!" Roxy said, taking off.
"Waving, me!" Bippo said.
Dr. Odd stayed behind, working on Crime Fighter Bot. He opened the robot's chest plate. Then he checked the wires and circuits inside.
"Crime Fighter Bot did a good job for a while," Dr. Odd said. "It's too bad I might have to power it down forever."
Crime Fighter Bot's eye suddenly glowed.
"Awake, him!" Bippo said.
"That's impossible, Bippo." Dr. Odd chuckled as he looked for something in his toolbox.
Crime Fighter Bot's head spun around. "The law is the law. You have broken the law."
"No, I haven't!" Dr. Odd said. "And you're supposed to be powered down!"
Dr. Odd tried to reach inside the robot's chest plate. But Crime Fighter Bot slammed the plate shut. It grabbed Dr. Odd and tossed him onto the sidewalk.
Zip! The robot shot out a net, trapping Dr. Odd and Bippo. Then it started walking down the sidewalk, scanning people with its camera.
"You have broken the law," the bot said, firing nets. "You have broken the law. You have . . ."
Just as Roxy landed back at school, her watch beeped.
"What is it, Mayor?" Roxy asked.
"It's Crime Fighter Bot, Rocket Girl!" Mayor Bloom cried. "It's shooting nets and trapping everyone in the city!"
