It was lunchtime. Roxy and her friends were walking to the cafeteria.
"Did you guys hear about Crime Fighter Bot?" Jack said. "Last week it caught those bank robbers who had bombs."
"Yeah!" Mara said. "Yesterday it stopped a big monster from stomping on the city."
Roxy sighed. "Everybody forgot about Rocket Girl while I was sick," she thought.
"Big deal," Terrell said. "Rocket Girl can fly and shoot lasers."
"Rocket Girl can't shoot nets, though," Jack said.
"She doesn't need to shoot nets," Terrell said. "She can still beat that dumb robot anytime!"
"Where is Rocket Girl?" Mara asked. "No one has seen her for a while."
"I guess nobody calls her anymore," Roxy said.
Just then Roxy's watch beeped. "Yay!" she thought.
"I, uh, need a drink of water," Roxy said. She ran over to a drinking fountain.
"Mayor Bloom, what's the emergency?" Roxy asked.
"Hello, Rocket Girl. No emergency. How are you feeling?" Mayor Bloom said.
"Uh, better, Mayor," Roxy said. "What are you calling about?"
"Detective Smith wants to see you at Police Headquarters," Mayor Bloom said.
"I'll be right there!" Roxy said.
At Police Headquarters everything was quiet. One officer was snoring at his desk.
"Hey, Detective," Roxy said. "Did you just take a nap too? Oh, wait a minute. Your hair always looks really messy!"
Detective Smith laughed.
Roxy blinked in surprise. "You think my joke is funny?"
"Yep!" Detective Smith said. "I've missed you."
"Thanks, Detective!" Roxy grinned. "What's up?"
"We have a problem," Detective Smith said. "Crime Fighter Bot is out of control. Watch this."
He showed Roxy a video. A man dropped a banana peel on the sidewalk. Suddenly Crime Fighter Bot appeared and shot out a net. The man was trapped in the net.
Detective Smith frowned. "This robot is causing lots of trouble. It can't tell what's a serious crime and what's not."
"Did you ask Dr. Odd about it?" Roxy asked.
"Not yet. I—" He looked up, but Roxy was already gone. He smiled. "It's just like old times!"
As Roxy flew over the city, she quickly spotted the robot.
"What's going on here?" she thought, landing near it.
Some teenagers with skateboards stood in front of a sign. The sign read "No Skateboards." Crime Fighter Bot was blaring a loud siren at them.
"That's enough!" Roxy called. "These are just kids, not criminals."
Crime Fighter Bot spun around, its lights flashing. "You're under arrest!"
