Rocket Girl's Galaxy Squad Adventure 24: Home
"We can't let Meltron get away!" Roxy said.
The damaged robot was flying away from Groon.
"We'll use my energy blaster," Dr. Odd said. "Follow me."
He led the group to a control center in another room. He pressed some buttons and flipped a switch. Nothing happened.
"Your energy blaster doesn't seem to be working!" Cozlin said.
     "Is it broken?" Roxy asked.
"Give it a minute," Dr. Odd said.
Roxy felt the moon begin to shake slightly. Then . . . Whoomp! A shimmering form moved quickly from the moon toward Meltron. Suddenly Meltron vanished!
"The demon got away!" Wukong said.
Cozlin rolled her eyes. "He's not a demon, Wukong."
Dr. Odd chuckled. "He didn't get away. The energy blast turned him into a cloud of atoms. He doesn't exist anymore."
"Whoa," Cozlin said. "My planet doesn't have anything like that!"
     "Boring, you," Bippo said.
     Roxy frowned. "Not nice, Bippo."
     "Sorry, me."
"I should go home," Wukong said. "I need to destroy the Demon of Mighty Roots. And the Tang Monk still has a long way to go on his journey. But this has been fun! If you ever need me to save your galaxy again, come and get me!"
Roxy smiled. "We will, Wukong. Good luck!"
Cozlin opened the portal. Everyone saw the tree demon lying motionless on the ground. Wukong jumped through and swung his iron bar as the portal swirled shut.
"I have to go home too," Cozlin said. "I need to help clean up the mess that the robots made. We'll need to rebuild a lot of things too."
"Take the spaceship," Dr. Odd said. "I have a few others."
     "Thank you," Cozlin said.
Roxy, Terrell, and Dr. Odd watched Cozlin zoom away. Then Dr. Odd programmed a route back to Earth.
"Even with my advanced hyper-speed, the trip will take about a day," he said.
He showed Roxy and Terrell to a pair of guest rooms. Everyone went to sleep. The next morning, as they ate breakfast, Roxy saw Earth in the distance. Dr. Odd flew them down to Metro City in a spaceship.
"What will you do now?" Terrell asked him.
"The Groonians are out there somewhere," Dr. Odd said. "I'll find them and tell them they can safely return home now."
"Okay, Dr. Odd." Roxy smiled. "But remember—you're a member of the Galaxy Squad. If there's big trouble . . ."
"I'll come right back!" Dr. Odd said with a laugh.
     "Superhero, him," Bippo said.
     Everyone laughed.
"Come on, Bippo," Dr. Odd said. "We have an important mission!"
Bippo followed Dr. Odd into the spaceship. Roxy and Terrell waved and then watched it blast off.
"Well, Terrell," Roxy said. "I was wrong about people. I now know that they can change."
"Good," Terrell said. "So you'll stop being mad at the kid who made fun of my glasses?"
Roxy nodded. "But if he ever makes fun of you again, he'll have Rocket Girl to deal with!"
"Actually . . ." Terrell grinned as they started walking toward home. "If he does it again, he'll have something else to deal with—the Galaxy Squad!"
