"Stop complaining, Roxy," Cozlin said as they took off. "A million light-years sounds far, but we have a Delkorian power crystal. So the trip will actually be pretty quick."
"Okay," Roxy said, yawning.
They took a short nap in the spaceship's sleeping pods. When they woke up, they were passing by a huge nebula. An hour later they reached the Varda Region.
Cozlin pressed a button, and a map appeared.
"The spaceship's computer knows the location of every object in the region," Cozlin said. She leaned closer. "Hmm. Something is wrong with one of the planets."
Roxy saw that one planet—a bright green one—was blinking on the map.
Cozlin tapped the planet, causing it to expand.
"Planet Groon," a voice said. "Located in the Varda Region, Groon is a forest planet with a large population. The entire surface is covered in trees. Groonians spend much of their time growing fruit trees."
"That sounds like a nice place," Roxy said.
"Yep," Cozlin said. "But not anymore. The sensors aren't picking up any signs of life!"
They flew to Groon and didn't see anything green at all. Instead, metal structures, along with parts from spaceships and other machines, covered the surface.
"It's as if the entire planet has been turned into a big junkyard!" Roxy said.
"It's been overrun by robots," Cozlin said. "Maybe the robots on Delkor came from here."
In the distance they saw a small sphere stuck to the planet.
"That looks like a moon," Roxy said.
They landed near the sphere and stepped outside.
Roxy's feet clinked on the metal surface. "I can't believe there was once a forest under here."
Cozlin nodded but didn't say anything. Roxy knew why.
"She's scared this will happen to Delkor," Roxy thought. "I know I'm far from home. But this is where I need to be right now. Cozlin needs me!"
They walked past all sorts of strange objects. Some looked like rockets or satellites. Others appeared to be vehicles or just scraps of metal.
"Where did all of this come from?" Roxy said.
Cozlin shrugged. "Other planets?"
They found an entrance with a walkway that went down into the planet.
As Roxy examined the metal surrounding the entrance, she gasped. "Here's an M, just like on all the robots back on Delkor!"
"Wow," Cozlin said. "Then we really are in the right place. Let's go in!" She took out a device. "This can detect life. If anyone is in here, we'll know."
They went down the walkway. Cozlin's device beeped regularly as it scanned the environment. Up ahead, Roxy saw something strange. A shimmering energy shield filled the corridor. She could see that the corridor continued on the other side of the shield.
Cozlin stuck her hand through the energy shield. She shrugged. "I think it's safe."
They stepped through it and continued to walk. Cozlin's device wasn't beeping anymore.
Roxy glanced over. "I think your device stopped—"
"Uh-oh!" Cozlin said, pointing ahead. Roxy looked and saw three mean-looking robots.
"I'll get them!" Roxy tried to fire her eye laser beams, but nothing happened.
"Oh no!" Roxy cried. "I don't have my super powers!"
